For now I am using a 2 inch flattener that slides into the back. It should be here next week It will screw directly in to the M68 male thread on the connection train. I am getting the 2.5 " non-APO specific Flattener directly from Sharpstar. The massive focuser scared me a bit (JK) but it is beautiful with cascading connection pieces fitting well.įocuser is not stiff but firm, My ZWO EAF moves it easily even when near vertical. There is a nice camera rotator collar that moves smoothly. it is packed inside the foam padded carrying case which is supported by foam inserts so no problems there. The optics arrived clean, with no issues apparent. Painted and metal finish surfaces are very high quality to my eye. I haven't had a scope like this before, but my impression of the fit and finish is that both are excellent. I am going to test a different flattener also - just for fun while I wait for an Orion Thin OAG and the Sharpstar flatteners (the ZWO OAG I have only illuminates a portion of the 174 MM mini guide camera I have). I am also going to get the recommended 140PH reducer from All Star. I exchanged email with MIchael at Sharpstar - and they recommend the 2.5 inch APO flattener on their site - it is not optimized for the 140 but should work well for APS-C and smaller sensors (like your 1600MM Pro which I have also). I can see the TS website - but something may be lost in translation - could you point me to their recommendations? I have the other bracket for the EAF but haven't tried it yet (need to dig through accessory box). The EAF works with the standard bracket with one screw- will need to improve this I think although it is quite rigid as is and it tests fine. I bought it here in Alberta from All Star Telescope - They are a now a regional dealer for Sharpstar.
